Background

I started in IT in 2000. Since then I have worked across infrastructure, security, cloud, governance, and the systems that businesses actually depend on. I have worked with and alongside many managed service providers, which means I understand how they think, what they prioritise, and where the gaps tend to appear.

It is unlikely you have IT systems, processes, or projects I have not encountered before, whether I have built them, fixed them, or sold them at some point. That depth matters when the decisions are fast and the stakes are real.

Physics gave me a way of thinking about problems. The MSc gave me a formal grounding in the field I practice. 25 years of doing the work in real businesses gave me the rest.

How I work

My role is to be a trusted partner for technology decisions, not to manage daily IT operations. I sit above the day-to-day. I challenge suppliers, review spend, identify risk, and make sure the right things get done. When I go hands on, it is to get the right outcome quickly, not to handle tickets.

I am happy to explore risks and opportunities, not just fix what is already broken. The technical depth I carry means I can move fast when something needs to happen and get it done properly.
